Scenario: You conduct a routine check of the Recent Calls tab in UCE. Some items appear to have bad, missing, or unrecognizable information. Some calls that have a Call Type have letters after the extension or called number.
Answer: UCE uses a filter method to collect calls. It looks for certain characteristics to capture potential calls from the switch data. It then filters those potential calls through a second layer and assigns an appropriate call type (i.e. local, 800, FTS). The Recent Calls tab shows everything that is captured by the first filter layer. This means that some of the items on the Recent Calls tab are not true calls (i.e. misdials and even other random info the switch outputs). Of the items that appear on the Recent Calls tab, only calls that are matched by the second filter layer and get associated with a call type will transfer into the data call report data. So, it is normal to see unknown calls and "gibberish" on the recent calls tab. If you see a call that you know is a valid call and does not have a call type, please note all the pertinent information about that call and contact the Unique Communications Support staff to make the necessary adjustments.
